Prayer for My Sister

“God is our refuge and our strength, an ever present help in our times of trouble.” Pslam 46:1 I want to fix things immediately. Especially when it comes to a situation one of our members find themselves in. Even more so when that member happens to be one that is near and dear to my heart. We aren’t suppose to have “favorites” but you can ask the community and they would name Sabrina as such. It’s probably because when we first met neither one of us had much patience for the other. We both had our assumptions and our bias’, both kept us from being willing to be present with one another. This eventually changed as I was able to completely adore her two girls from the get go. Kids often have a

A Prayer for the Cherished

A Prayer for the Cherished “What a good thing it is to love on earth as we shall love in heaven, and learn to cherish one another here as we shall do forever there.” – Francis de Sales Father, what an incredible thing it is to be cherished by you. You look upon our own brokenness with grace and charity, and always with your call towards restoration. None of the smallness that separates us from you will remain when you have finished your work in us, but we know, too, that you are a patient God. A wise God who, knowing we could not come to meet you on the mountain, came to us in the weakness of the flesh – you walked amongst us, were hungry and thirsty as we are, you suffered pain and even dea

Invitation to the Thirsty (Isaiah 55)

Father you are amazing. Amazing in ways that I can understand and in ways that I cannot comprehend. You have opened our hearts to a beautiful part of your plan on 26th and Capitol. A place where we can be sheltered, nourished and grow in your love. (55:1) “Come, all you who are thirsty, come to the waters; and you who have no money, come, buy and eat! I give thanks that your love cannot be purchased or earned and your mercy is freely given. I try to understand that it is in fact we that were bought at a price. I am thirsty and hungry. (55:6) “Seek the Lord while he may be found; call on him while he is near. Let the wicked forsake their ways and the unrighteous their thoughts. Let them turn

What the Heck?

“You can choose to look the other way, but you can never say again that you did not know.” William Wilberforce There are days when I want to look the other way. And by days I mean most days. The season has changed and so have I. I am not sure yet if that is good thing or not. I spend days trying to find the answers to “things” that are rolling in my mind and heart. I spend days trying to “reconcile” the “things” that I hear and see and hear and know on a pretty regular basis. The answers and promises that came easy before don’t seem to fit now. Jesus, I seriously hate asking this question, but “what the heck”??? I’m not mad at you. I’m not questioning you. But what the heck? Soften me. Softe

"Be BRAVE. Don't settle. Say how you feel. Find your passion. Be true to yourself. Stand up for things that matter Don't apologize for who you are. Love with every ounce of your being." Brian, Dorcas, Karyll, Hannah and Rachael are superheroes. They are brave. They don't settle. They say how they feel. They are passionate. They are true to self. They stand for things that matter. They don't apologize for who God made them. They love with every ounce of their being. They are superheroes. They don't often get acknowledged for the great work they do, but they keep doing it. I am sure I can be pretty hard to work for. I am driven, motivated and passionate about what I get to do. I want everyone
