We Look to You

Psalm 103:1-5 Praise the LORD, my soul; all my inmost being, praise his holy name. Praise the LORD, my soul, and forget not all his benefits— who forgives all your sins and heals all your diseases, who redeems your life from the pit and crowns you with love and compassion, who satisfies your desires with good things so that your youth is renewed like the eagle’s. Who doesn’t want to soar like an eagle, especially in these times?  To be able to look down on this world from a new perspective.  To have the strength to effortlessly climb to great heights.  That is God’s promise, to forgive our sins that weigh us down, to heal us, redeem us and then to crown us with love and compassion and renew

A couple weeks ago I was listening to a sermon which focused on our responsibility - our ability to respond. The key part of this was the emphasis on respond….How we choose to respond to any person or situation has a huge impact on what happens next! I have been thinking about this ever since because it seems to be resonating with my life a lot as of late. School is back in session for our kiddos and with all MPS schools learning virtually, that has posed somewhat of a challenge. Formation: the action of forming or process of being formed. No matter where you turn, you see how people are being formed before our very eyes. The yard sign. The bumper sticker. The news. Social media. T-shirts. Flags. The podcast. The blog post. Conversations. Overheard conversations. Formation. The heavens. The seas. The animals. You formed man and woman in your likeness. You called it good. May we stop the formation of words, thoughts, and deeds that are anything BUT from YOU. Grace and Mercy

As I sit and contemplate how far I’ve come and all that I went through, I can't help but smile and thank God for all of my trials and tribulations. This I know now develops us for the type of person we are to become. This is what is known as GRACE and MERCY, which we receive everyday! I pray that everyone receives that grace and mercy and keeps their eye on the prize which is our Lord God. I pray that we as a people can obey God and treat everyone as equal human beings. I also would like to take the time to acknowledge that I am a child of God, and so are YOU. Thank God for everything about Hope Street Ministry which has played a major part in my life in which it has turned a confused broken

Before every game in college, my coach would have an inspirational quote on the board. It was meant to give us something to think about or focus on as we headed in the game. I remember for a few months - the acronym K.I.S.S. was a recurring quote. It stands for "keep it simple stupid" - and all that we needed to remember was the fundamentals, scouting report and the game plan. It was really quite simple - there have been a lot of similar conversations around Hope Street lately. People are worrying about things beyond their control, people's focus has been on fleeting things and petty arguments are frequent. There's a lot of "I don't want to be a snitch but...." We have made life complicated
