Silence

Silence.

I have often heard people say they are uncomfortable in the silence, “I don’t like silence”. “Silence is so boring.”

Just about every morning I sit in “my chair”. What I love most about this time is the silence...of the house and of my mind. I soak up the silence. This will probably be the most silent part of the day. From 7:15a on, the rest of the day will be filled with some type of noise. Conversation with kids-husband-family-friends, the radio, conversations at work, music, more conversations, the sound of the small foot steps of the kiddos living above my office, move conversations, sirens, cars rattling through the alley, more conversations, dinner, bedtime.

I encourage you to sit in the silence somewhere today. And while you are sitting there, soak it in. Soak in the silence. If a thought comes, acknowledge it and let it go. Back to silence. When you are all done soaking in the silence, let me know.

Jesus,

Thank you for silence.

Amen,

Rachael
