Child of God
Who the Son sets free
Oh is free indeed
I’m a child of God
Yes I am
In my Father’s house
There’s a place for me
I’m a child of God
Yes I am
I am chosen
Not forsaken
I am who You say I am
You are for me
Not against me
I am who You say I am
“Who You Say I Am”
Hillsong Worship
Week by week our staff is currently working our way through a book by Terry Wardle called Identity Matters. The title itself does a pretty good job of telling you what the book is about, but more importantly, it dives into what our identity is and why it matters. I think back to when I was a kid and teachers would ask me to describe or identify myself using 3 words. Typically I would respond with a very basic response - something along the lines of athletic, outgoing and tall. The interesting thing about this is there is one thing that I failed to mention every time. One thing that we all, I think, tend to overlook or cease to bring to light the significance behind. I am, and always will be, a Child of God.
Lord, today I ask you that you remind us all of our true identity. Let us not define ourselves by people, money, our profession, or our appearance. Help us remember that these things are fleeting but you are secure. You are eternal. We thank you that, because of this, we can achieve ultimate satisfaction through you and not through our own title, prestige, or other attributes. We thank you that this relationship with you can never be taken away from us. Let us not take this for granted but use our time wisely to grow in this relationship with you. We love you and we thank you for choosing us - choosing us as your children.
Amen, Brooke
