Redeemed

“Still, God, you are our Father. We’re the clay and you’re our potter: all of us are what you made us. Don’t keep a permanent account of wrongdoing. Keep in mind, please, we are your people - all of us.”

Isaiah 64:8-10 MSG

Sometimes, we want to keep a permanent account of wrongdoing. Somehow it justifies our behavior towards people. We feel entitled to be angry, frustrated, or apathetic. We work hard to protect against this sort of behavior - the reason being? We often have members who leave because of a bad choice they have made. We have to be able to separate the “thing” done, or behavior, from their identity as a beloved son or daughter of our Father - because He said so, but also because often those same members come walking back through our doors looking to return “home”.

Father, thanks for bringing us in as your children. May we remain moldable in your hands, allowing you to shape us into who you want us to be. Thank you for your grace, that allows our long list of wrongdoings to be washed away before you - help us extend that same grace to those we come in contact with. Help us to have your eyes for your beloved sons and daughters. Protect us from ourselves, so that we can love more, learn more and lean more on you!

In Jesus’ name we pray.

Amen, Ash
