Thriving

As you may know, each month we have dedicated a certain theme to our prayers. Those which relate to Hope Street and our mission to help our community better understand all that happens inside our doors. This month’s theme is thrive and I could not help myself but to picture Jenna Rink making a birthday wish to be “thirty, flirty and thriving”. For those of you that don’t know this reference, you might want to watch 13 Going on 30. But in all seriousness, what does it mean to thrive? What does it look like? How does one thrive?

The answer to this is actually pretty easy. The difficult part about this is oftentimes we get caught up in our own doings instead of simply trusting in God. God wants us to thrive. He wants to see us growing. He wants to see us flourishing, but in order to do that, we must relinquish our own desires for control and let Him take the reigns. Do not mistake this for me saying we do not need to put in any work. Just like any relationship, a relationship with God takes some work and there are practical ways to start and continue in a relationship with Him.

Lord, today I just ask that we all take one step further in trusting you. May we open our hearts and our minds and our ears to you God. Lord, may you work in and through us to live our lives to the fullest. To live as You called us to live. God I know we all face different seasons. Seasons where we may be struggling, seasons where we may experience fear or doubt or envy or grief, but in those moments, Lord, I ask that we turn to you. May we lean on you and trust in you to work in us even in those darkest moments. Lord, may we give you the reigns to our lives. May we be reminded that you have the ultimate plan for our lives and that You want us to truly thrive.

Amen,

Brooke
