Time and Time Again

The heavens declare the Glory of God, the skies proclaim the work of His hands. Day after day they pour forth speech, night after night they display knowledge.

Psalm 19:1-2

I love this time of year. Not sure if it’s because it happens more often or because I spend more time outside, but I notice more frequently the beauty of the skies in the morning and evening. We have been blessed with many clear mornings, to watch the sun slowly make it's way above the horizon, bringing glimpses of light, casting shadows from buildings & trees, and right after the temps reach the coldest time of day, beginning the process of warming the earth and it's people. The evening skies glow with red, pink and orange hues, wispy clouds swirl about, winds calm, as the sun makes its daily descent. The beauty of it all leaves me in awe. “From the rising of the sun, to the place where it sets, the name of the Lord is to be praised.”

We maneuver our days within the daylight hours. We adjust our clocks, pushing them ahead and pulling them back, to take advantage of each day as best we can. We play games with time, but God’s sovereignty, faithfulness and promises always reign and hold true. We trust that each and every day, He will lift up the sun, the moon, and the stars to the highest heavens. And in the same way, He raises us up…His treasured creation… from our slumber each day, to welcome us into this, our earthly home. We discover it's beauty, explore it's bounty, experience it's power, and relish it's resources. He dwells with us in this place, giving wisdom, guidance, strength, and courage to live well under His Mighty Name. “From the rising of the sun, to the place where it sets, the name of the Lord is to be praised.”

Father God, thank you for the daily assurance…through our ups and downs, fears & anxious moments, challenges and celebrations, afflictions and healings…that we can trust You to make each day new again. We do not know what today, tomorrow, or the future will bring, but we are certain…just as the sun rises and sets each day…that your mercies will be new every morning, your faithfulness is rock-solid every day, and your promises are fulfilled time…and time again. Praise be your Holy Name!

Amen,

Thomas Tym
