The roles outlined below are ongoing, perfect for individuals seeking to be connected through a steady presence—even if the rhythm varies.

Shechem Daytime Volunteers:  Year round, we offer opportunities for volunteers to come hang out and be present with our adult members at Shechem between 10 a.m. and 3p.m. Simply showing up on a regular basis is key to fostering our community environment. Volunteers connect with members by sharing conversations, playing games, shooting hoops, and connecting in various other ways. Shechem Youth Volunteers: Year round, we offer opportunities for volunteers to spend time with youth. During the school year, we offer afterschool programming from 3-6pm. Showing up on a regular basis is key to fostering our community environment. Volunteers can oversee a classroom and connect with primarily middle and high schoolers by sharing conversations, playing games, offering homework help and connecting in various other ways. If you have a particular skill or interest, we also look for people to bring fun and enriching activities to the space from dessert decorating

to woodworking to science experiments. You could also spend time with the youth playing basketball. This role will require a full interest form completed and a background check

Maintenance: If you have extra time throughout the week and enjoy handy work, our maintenance team would love your help! We rely on a dedicated group of volunteers to assist with the ongoing care of our 24 member units, shared spaces, and community center. Projects vary widely and include tasks like repairing trim, clearing drains, fixing doors or windows, and general upkeep. This role offers flexibility Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. This role requires submitting a completed interest form and a background check.
