a shift in prayer

Heavenly Father,
As we enter this new year, we thank you for a chance at new beginning. While we reflect on what was over the past year, we’re grateful for all the good that you’ve done in our lives. We thank you for the time shared with our loved ones, family, friends, and everyone we were able to spend time with. While we cherish that joy, we also understand that you give us hard times to reflect on.
It’s easy for us to focus on all the good, but not reflect on what we learned from during those hard times. Help us to remember to pray for gratitude for both; to pray in appreciation of the good, and your guidance/grace to help through the hard ones.
As we take those prayers to, knowing they have an help us remember that there are always those like our community at Hope Street who may be in even harder times; that when we sit in a room together that we all have our own struggles and sin. It’s not about us, it’s about you and your divine wisdom. Allow our focus in prayer to shift from asking for your help and instead asking how we can better serve you and help others.
In Jesus name- Amen
