Something different

It’s been a minute since I’ve sat down to write a prayer for Wednesday Prayer — like, a hot minute. And yet, at the same time, it feels like just yesterday that I first made my way down to Hope Street, hoping to find something different in my relationship with Jesus. I found Wednesday Prayer.

If you’ve been around Hope Street long enough, you’ve probably heard one or more people say something like, “When I first came to Hope Street, I could feel it — the tangible presence of God. The Holy Spirit. Peace. The moment I walked through the doors.” It’s a feeling unlike any other, especially if you’ve yet to experience it.

I came down looking for something different in my relationship with Jesus, and what I found was a community I wasn’t even searching for — a community also experiencing that same tangible presence and peace that only ONE can provide.

If you’ve never been to Hope Street, or if it’s been a while, I encourage you to make the short drive down to 26th and Capitol. You never know what might be waiting for you there. I promise — you won’t be disappointed.

Dear Heavenly Father,

I feel like so many are looking for something different…a feeling of peace, a peace that surpasses all understanding, a relationship with You. We search in places filled with distraction. We come up short and anxious and wanting more. It’s hard to imagine that a building, a space, a simple corner could hold Your presence. And yet, there is a place. You are there, and You invite us in. May we have the courage to say yes.

Amen,
