welcome back

Two words we have become accustomed to reciting within both of our spaces. Daily at our community center as we welcome in hundreds of youth and young adults each week. At Homes, to a member coming in from work or school - or back into the community after a season away. Whatever the reason, we love when people know they have a place to belong. We have seen the power of community at work, and know it’s in part due to people’s willingness to “show up”.
Recently we have welcomed back people who have invested in Hope Street through their time, and financial contributions. Seasons change, and capacity along with it. We never take it personally when people choose to direct funds elsewhere, or are no longer able to serve or be present in the same ways - but we LOVE when people come back. Recently I’ve been reminded how deep the relationships run that are formed within our space - it thwarts any “transaction” and instead is the faithful invitation to receive the blessing that is ours - we are known, loved and we have a place to belong.
Father, thank you that you continually go out of your way to make a place for us. A place to belong. A place where we can be reminded of what is true - of others, and of ourselves. Help Hope Street continue to be a place that exhibits these parts of your character, help us to be ready and willing to “welcome back” your children. We are grateful for your hospitality, and even more grateful for your perfect love. Thank you for choosing to be Emmanuel, and may we cling to the Hope and joy that is ours because you cho(o)se to be with us.
Amen,
Ash
